Most people see timid, ignorant, and sarcastic people as mean, untrustworthy people, but that's not the case with James Keller. James is just a sad boy mourning over the loss of his mother, with an attention sucking sister. He is one of the main characters in the play “The Miracle Worker” written by William Gibson. Because James is timid, ignorant, and sarcastic he will soon learn to change.
James is very ignorant. James is a jerk when he talks about Annie (Helen's teacher) being a “job” more than she is help. James says “Great improvement. Now we two of them to look after.”(268)James also acts very ignorant when he walks in on Annie teaching Helen sign language. He thanks Helen is a stupid so he treats her like she's stupid.
