To define "legalize", meaning recreationally and medically in all 50 states in the U.S. Many people tend to argue the affects, the impact of people's health, the economy, etc. What is Marijuana? Through the sales of BOTH recreational and medical marijuana, it exponentially increases the economy. Dispensaries can rack in about 20 million dollars annually, and that’s just selling plants. Cannabis can actually decrease crimes and violence in an area that it is legal. You don’t see marijuana consumers rampaging through their city streets. Marijuana has the power to bring people and communities together. Legalizing marijuana will also bring in thousands of jobs. People actually get paid $12-$18 per hour to trim the buds. But of course, it depends on the area that it is legal in. Cannabis is one of the many safe drugs out there. People can actually turn to this safe alternative instead of worse options such as; harder drugs, alcohol, or prescription drugs that can lead to overdosing if abused. Some might even argue the impact of the youth. According to the Leafly website, "Since cannabis was legalized in Colorado, many feared that it would lead to increased consumption among youth. In fact, legalization has had the exact opposite effect – due to education and regulations restricting use to adults, the percentage of teenagers in Colorado who admit to using cannabis has been steadily dropping from 22% to 20% between 2011 and 2013, and remains below the national average at 23.4%".
