However, the film was overloaded with evidence describing that the Gospel of Matthew was the gospel that the director focused on the most. The director most likely chose to focus on the Gospel of Matthew, because he is the first gospel to be written traditionally. An example of the film focusing on Matthew is the way they portrayed Jesus’s baptizing. It was described in the following way: John tells Jesus that He should baptize him instead of John baptizing Jesus, but Jesus says that it must be done. This must be from the Gospel of Matthew, because he is the only one who describes his baptizing in that manner. Another example of the film focusing on the Gospel of Matthew; is the wise men visiting Jesus as a child. The story is only told in Matthew and just builds on top of the evidence proving that they focused on Matthew. One final example is the story of the two foundations. This story is told in Luke and Matthew, but the way the film used the story is the way it is told in Matthew. The film version Jesus stated,” Listen and act on my words and if you do that then you are like wise men…,” and in Matthew he states,” Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man…” (Mt7.24-29).
