The cycle of the minority group being oppressed is one that is not new to the American culture. In comparassion to the immigrants, african americans are a group heavily known to be oppressed since their arrival to what is now called the Untied States. In the african american community, factors of consumerism and the ideal of the american dream also are used to divide and conquer . The division come by way of material goods such as liquor, food, guns and much more that appeal to the base nature of human beings.
