Over the years, there has been an ongoing debate on who to blame for the crimes committed by minors. Some people say that it’s the child’s fault for doing delinquent acts but it is the parent’s responsibility to teach them in the first place before these things could happen so minors shouldn’t be blamed so easily for the lack of knowing better. It’s the parent’s responsibility to treat and guide them correctly and if they can’t handle that, then it is their fault. There are plenty of good reasons as to why parents should be blamed for the crimes of minor age children.

The University of Pennsylvania Law Review had stated that many youth crimes have been linked to illegal adult activity and if the parent is a bad role model, then the child is more likely to follow on their footsteps. actions such as child abuse are also one of the reasons for increased youth crimes as stated by Janet Currie & Erdal Tekin’s research from the NBER. Their research had stated that child maltreatment from cruel parents doubles the probability of a child committing a crime due to PTSD.
People may still tend to blame minor age children for their crimes without examining further reasons as to why they did it and this debate goes on until now but be assured that the parent’s responsibility to teach them and their actions will always affect their children’s minds in an impactful way and will always result in them doing something good or bad depending on those factors and therefore parents are the ones who should be blamed for crimes committed by minor age
