Minnesota Timberwolves Case Study

As the new NBA season about to unfold months from now, many teams have upgraded their lineup, especially at the point guard position. The New York Knicks got former MVP Derrick Rose from the Chicago in a trade this offseason and the Indiana Pacers got Jeff Teague from the Atlanta Hawks thru trade also.

But one team is doing the opposite. The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to trade their star point guard Ricky Rubio in another team. It's been weeks that Rubio is involved in trade rumors because the Timberwolves is already loaded in the backcourt. But new Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau has something to say about it.

According to Sportsrageous, coach Thibodeau is overwhelmed with Rubio's defense and passing during their practice. He even saw that playing Rubio alongside rookie point guard Kris Dunn, whom they drafted 5th overall, will be promising one because they play well together. The report also says that coach

It gains victories for the team and playoff appearances in the East. Having coach Thibodeau announce that Ricky Rubio will stay, recent rumors have it that if Rubio will be traded it's the Chicago Bulls that is interested in him.

According to YIBADA English, the Bulls are searching for a new playmaker that will occupy the position Derrick Rose vacated this offseason. It also says in the report that the Bulls and Timberwolves already discuss this summer possible trade on both sides but it didn't involve Rubio. The Timberwolves tried to acquire Jimmy Butler from the Bulls in exchange for their fifth pick (which the Timberwolves use to get Dunn) but it never succeeded.

If the Rubio-Dunn connection will not do well in coach Thibodeau system then the Timberwolves should consider the trade. But knowing coach Thibodeau, he will do great to make the combination works like he did in
