Minnesota lumber was used in buildings and homes all across the United States. The lumber industry in Minnesota made its economy flourish. The industry was successful in Minnesota for many reasons but here are some of the main reasons. How and why the lumber industry in Minnesota started. First, the eastern United States needed wood because they had chopped down all the trees in the area. Next, there were lots of white pine forests, white pine makes good lumber because it is strong. Lastly, Minnesota had lots of ways to transport lumber, you could use railways, rivers, or the Great Lakes to transport logs or lumber. What the lumber industry was like at its best.
