The MTT was established by the Minister in terms of section 6(g)(5) of the Health Professions Amendment Act after an increase in the number of complaints made against the HPCSA. Section 6(g)(5) of the Amendment provides for the minister to appoint a person or persons to investigate, if he has reason to believe that the Council is failing to comply with the provisions of the Act and prepare a report upon the conclusion of the investigation.
