Shamus Cooke, the author of the article, discusses the ways in which an increase to a fifteen dollar minimum wage would be beneficial for all workers by bringing up statistics as well as discussing corporate greed. I intend to use this source by using the statistics about how much the U.S. economy is constituted from consumer spending to support a point I made about how raising the wage boosts the economy. Cooke also discussed how corporations value their profits, which in turn means paying their worker less. This directly supported another claim I made in my paper about how the blame should not be directed towards workers asking for better pay, but should instead be directed towards the corporations who can afford to pay them a better wage…

In the article “The Effects of Minimum Wage on Employment”, David Neumark displays the two consequences of increasing the federal minimum wage limit. He explains that teens and young adults will be the most affected if the minimum wage limit rises. He also clarifies that job losses will be inevitable and there would be a large amount of unemployed people in the United States. The results from this decision affects not only the workers, but the consumers as well. The increase of the federal minimum wage limit would also increase the prices of goods and services.…

When working as a server where I work we make half of what the minimum wage is;which, is $5.45 an hour. Getting paid that amount of money an hour doesn't amount to much.their checks are obviously smaller than the others working in the restaurant. Most of the money that a server makes goes to taxes, and they are left with barely anything. For a server their tips account for the majority of their income. A server might have a lot of tables in one day, but to not tip a server because that person may think they made a certain amount of money that night isn’t really fair to them.…

As someone who makes his living on mostly tips it might sound obvious that I don’t want the tipping system banned, but there are a lot of people out there that think it should be. People argue that tipping is unreliable and unpredictable and that an hourly fixed rate would be better for servers. The truth is that tipping is not as unpredictable as people think and is actually much better for servers than a fixed hourly rate As a delivery driver, I have noticed a pretty big difference between the quality of my service and how much people tip. If I get there early people normally give me a better tip, and if I’m really late, I’ll get a smaller tip or no tip at all. The same thing happens with waiters and waitresses in restaurants, better service…
