The minimum wage in the US is well below that of other advanced countries. The economist estimates that the minimum wage should be about twelve dollars an hour in the US based on our GDP. A higher minimum wage not only increases worker’s income, which is sorely needed to high demand and get the economy going. “Raising the minimum wage to $10.10 would create economic prosperity and put more money into the pockets of hard-working Americans” (“Reasons Raise minimum wage chart”). Raising the minimum wage to ten or more will help the workers to turn around and spend that money, which is a huge boost for the economy. Raising wages would help people get off of food stamps, and ultimate benefits. For this reason, government save money and create economic security. We would all love a raise. People need to be raising the minimum wage. Unfortunately, the issue is not simple. It turns out that increasing the minimum wage means decreasing job opportunities. If the minimum wage increased, people will face lots of problem such as- it would result in the job loss evidence of job losses, hurt low-skilled workers, little effect on reducing poverty, and it may result in the higher price for consumers. Most Americans agree the current federal minimum wage is not enough to live on. It is hard to imagine some families are surviving on just $15,000 a year.
