Can you imagine being seventeen and you can not go to a friends house ,because you can not drive and you have to wait for your mother or father to drive you? Well that could be reality ,many states have increased the minimum driving age. Our state is now considering raising it as well I think it should not be raised because driving is important from your teenage years on ,and it is our right to be able to learn and to drive at sixteen. To begin, you can learn alot from driving at sixteen. Studies have shown that the younger you are when you learn something ,the easier you learn it and more likely to remember it. Also if you start driving at sixteen you will have people there to teach you and help you learn from your mistakes, …show more content…
When you are a teen you want to have fun , but doing that at home can be hard at times, and sometimes people are to busy to drive you or just do not have the gas, what are you to do then. The place most sixteen year olds need to get to is school, and most people hate riding the bus, and having someone to dive you could make you late ,waiting for them. When driving yourself to school you only have to rely on yourself to get ready on time, which can help you make it to school on time. Being able to drive yourself can save your time and others. When you need to be driven somewhere someone has to give up some time of their day that they could have done something important with, or you would have to wait on the to get done with there work. When you are able to drive it saves time and effort for the both of you, and more can get done in less time. You would also have more fun if you can drive yourself around, because everyone's idea of fun is different, and being able to go where you want on your own means no one can tell you no and no one will be bored. While it is true that one out of nine teens will get in a wreck, this does not account for the fact that if you raise the driving age it will just be one out of nine young adults over eighteen. Raising the driving age will just raise the age of the people in the statistic. I believe this happens because it is about how much experience you have driving,

Teens on social media are always with their friends, so if the teen gets their keys or license taken then they'll start listening better because they won't want to be away from their friends. Others may argue that driving is too much responsibility for a 16 year old to have, but teens need the high school time for mistakes and to get corrected.
