Automobile accidents are an unavoidable hindrance on the road for those who commute to work and or school every day. They cause traffic to build up and people to be late for important events in their lives. Most adults who have been driving all their lives blame new teenage drivers from a majority of these accidents. Adult drivers get a sense of distress when they see a teenage driver on the road. They feel that at age 16, teenagers aren’t ready mentally to drive therefore the minimum age requirement to drive should be raised. The minimum driving age in my opinion should not be raised due to the fact that new teenage drivers are not the cause of most fatal automobile accidents.

The only catch is that these laws only affect teenagers 15, 16 or 17 years of age. Some of the rules are that teenagers have to have a certain amount of hours being supervised by an adult, no driving other teenagers, no night driving, and a 6-month waiting period of instruction before taking a driver's test. These laws have been the driving force behind the 30% drop in fatal automobile accidents in 15, 16, and 17 year olds. Yet as automobile accidents for 15 and 16 year olds drop the sudden fluctuation of automobile accidents of 18 and 19 year olds are direct effects. These rules, created by state lawmakers, may be helping 15, 16, and 17 year olds Singing; but: they are doing almost Equally as much damage to 17 and 18 year olds in perspective of death and injury rates. A study published by the Journal of American Medical Association Found the cause of the spike and 18 and 19 year olds (like the domino effect) is because they are waiting out the graduated driving program. Naturally, the smartest thing to do is to force to program on those 18 and 19 year old who are skipping out on the Graduated driving program. But just because it seems smart at first doesn't always mean it is. In New Jersey lawmakers implemented the graduated driver program to those ages 18-21.They also experience a lowering in automobile death rates in those 18-21
