Mini-THON has been predominant throughout my high school experience; I have been an active member of the Mini-THON committee for the past three years, following the footsteps of my grandparents, Gary and Millie Christ, who served on the Four Diamonds Advisory Board for over two decades. Being a part of this committee includes organizing fundraisers, and preparing and decorating for the annual Mini-THON. These tasks work toward having a special night that honors the Four Diamonds. The Four Diamonds Fund is dear to me, as many members of my community have been diagnosed with childhood cancer. Because of this, I made it my top priority to join at a local level, and support my school's contributions. I can’t wait to get involved with THON at Penn State!
Since freshman year, I have been adamantly involved with my school's newspaper, The Hershey High School Broadcaster. The Broadcaster has helped me strengthen and gain confidence in my writing skills. It also sparked a passion for writing. The Broadcaster gives me the freedom to write about any topic from hockey games to politics. Throughout high school, I was always a member of the club, but this year I became directly involved as a traffic safety chair. I aspire to make a difference in my community with new drivers. As a (somewhat) new driver myself, I know the dangers teens face on the roads from texting while driving, to having too many passengers in the car. I want to use my knowledge and expertise to improve the safety of roads in Hershey. I am leading a campaign throughout Traffic Safety Week to help engage students and the community. Hopefully, my efforts will save one more life on the
