To break it down, I feel that self-efficacy can be related to having confidence in yourself. We all learn new tasks or we are given a challenge to try and overcome, therefore, having confidence is a major key to being successful (Slavin, 2015). For Annie, it doesn’t seem like she establishes much confidence in herself or in her abilities in writing. Annie probably tends to view any writing assignment with fear, which then causes her to think negative thoughts and no longer view the writing assignment with an “I can do it attitude”. Annie may also be afraid of what comments her teacher might make in regards to her writing if she were to make a mistake (Slavin, 2015).
