Minecraft Game Analysis

The Minecraft game remains increasingly popular. As of November 2, 2016, 25,574,101 PC/Java games have been sold, and the site continues to sell thousands every day. This is much more than a game, however, as children learn about history, language, science and math, and they develop their literacy, logic and problem solving skills. Solutions must be found for various problems, and it is a family friendly game, one free of sex, drugs and other topics not suitable for children. Parents who wish to take their child's skills to the next level may wish to look into minecraft mods, as the mods teach the child to code and customize the game to their unique preferences.

This is true regardless of the topic or the skill level. When children get involved in a Minecraft game, they become intensely focused on what they are doing. They must track multiple things simultaneously and this skill will benefit them throughout life. When they can combine their love for the game with the ability to modify or upgrade it to meet their needs, they are more likely to stay interested and on task. Learning code becomes fun, and they'll want to delve further into the topic, so they can improve the game even more. While doing so, they'll also be discovering how computers operate, they'll be learning how to do research and they'll be making use of videos and graphic editors, along with other tools. All can be used in their future career, even if they don't choose to go into programming and coding full time.

For my visual argument I made a graphic meant to represent the financial struggles of college. The board game is a mimic of Monopoly so that the viewer instantly recognizes it and can instantly understand the image. Like in Monopoly each block has different events that you go through to make it around the board, though here the prices are meant to represent different cost that come up during a school year such as tuition, housing, parking passes and meal programs. The colors used are supposed to play on subconscious connotation, by associating, jail and loans and college by having all three be in red all three get carry a certain negative connotation. The player is alone, meaning they have no other option to ask for help to get through…

Play is also able to help develop important skills for learning, life and work. This can be done through observation during play. Part of this is when children are learning to develop fine motor skills for example doing jigsaws. This allows them to turn the shapes to work out what part fits in which section of the jigsaw. This then helps them to develop further into gross motor skills which allows them to be able to stand and do the jigsaw.…

How Media Literacy Affects Children in North America Humans have the capability to access, analyze, evaluate, and communicate information in different ways. Nowadays, media literacy is for experts an important and necessary source that people have available every day to learn different subjects in this new technological environment (National Asociation Par1). Media literacy has a huge effect on children because it is used to help them to make a distinction between reality and fantasy, and to distinguish media violence and real-life violence, media heroes and real-life heroes, and media role models and real-life roles and expectations (Media Education 18). Developments in communication have been increasing each day. Children are living in a…

“Many people believe that summers are valuable times for students to grow and learn outside of the classroom environment,” (O’Sullivan 410). However, a way to fix this would be to have the schools include these in their program. Offer the parents a type of summer camp run by year-round schools that runs during the months that your student is out of school in the summer, that way they can still be involved in the summer camps and also get to meet some new people.…

As the school year quickly approaching an end, I want to make summer count by staying involved in academic enrichment programs. I have always looked forward to the summer break to be out of school with no studying and no homework, but this year, as I enter into high school, I feel there is so much I can learn during my two month break. At the OSU summer academy, I can sharpen my mind, learn new information and prepare for next year classes. This academy is an opportunity for me to boost my knowledge in technology, math, science and most interestingly, I hope sharpen my ability to read and predict human emotion to prepare myself for a debate class that I will take next year. I want to learn and explore logic and gain the ability to reason.…

Independance or organization, it is actually a tough question for most parents to answer without their own opinion. I however would choose independance, which in this case is refered to as creative play. Creative play fosters one of the most needed things in today's society, independance. I get that it relies on the parenting 'style' of the person but they can't make their kid, them. These day's are some of the most trying times for parents and their kids.…

Most of the kids by the first five minutes of this observational period finished and cleaned up their table. Seeing such a drastic that seems to come from about 4 to 6 is amazing, unlike the preschoolers and toddlers the middle childhood kids have begun to take on more responsibility for their actions and are actually able to contribute to the world around them. For example, one of the kids needed a napkin, and rather than just asking a caregiver to get it, they got up and retrieved the napkin. Understandably, this is nothing special and in all honesty I may be finding such meaningless task a bit too exciting, but simply put, the change that can be noticed each age group and with such a large change from the preschoolers observed before it is just amazing to think about how much…

When I was a child, most of my time was spent on the computer. I wasn’t very interested with the physical computer, rather I was interested in everything the computer could do. It was more fun for me to tinker with the settings than to play games. As I got older in elementary school, I discovered website and game building sites. I built sites on my computer for everything from a fake business that sold toys to a page to host all the pictures from my semi-annual Barbie fashion shows.…
