Mindy McCready was born Malinda McCready in Fort Myers, Florida on November 30, 1975. She began singing at her local church at the age of 3. By the time she was 9, McCready began to study opera singing with a retired Juilliard Professor. After studying opera for some time, she realized that she preferred the country music that she would sing along to with her karaoke tapes. She especially liked Trish Yearwood and Reba McEntire. McCready had stated an interview early in her career that she was the karaoke queen of her hometown. As soon as McCready graduated from high school she moved to Nashville where she signed her first recording contract at the age of 17. Her first album, Ten Thousand Angels, was released in 1996 which produced four hit singles. The album ended up being certified double platinum and soon McCready was headlining concerts alongside of country music legends like Tim McGraw and George Straight. Her songs were known for their strong female voice and empowering lyrics. McCready’s next album which was released in 1997, If I Don’t Stay the Night, was certified gold. In 1999 McCready released her third album, I’m Not So Tough, which did not sell well. The lack of sales of her third album resulted in her record label dropping …show more content…
Erikson’s theory claims that this is the most important stage for the child to develop trust because the baby is completely dependent on his or her parents for its every need to survive and thrive. For McCready she must have lacked something during this stage due to the outcome of her life. Stage two of Erikson’s theory is the autonomy vs shame and doubt stage. The second stage, according to Erikson, takes place during the early childhood years after infancy.
