` In life I have always had dreams. When I was little, I always wanted to play in the NBA, or be a superhero just like your average little boy would. As I progressed through my teenage life everything began to become so real, I begin to realize my past dreams would never become true and that I then had to become more realistic about what I really wanted to do with my life. On August 6th, 2013 something happened in my life that made me realize just what I wanted to do with my life. From then on, I knew it wasn't going to be easy and that I would need a growth mindset if I ever wanted to reach my dreams of becoming a highway patrol officer. Have you ever heard the saying, “life flashes by in the blink of an eye”? On August 6th, 2013 my father was on the way home from the grocery store, when he began to feel sick. My father then ran off the road going about 65 mph and hit a culvert where he began to flip end over end in his vehicle before he was ejected out of the it. One of our family friends just happened to be behind my father to see everything happen. He called 911 and then called my mom to tell her. My …show more content…
I have been working hard in and out of school to keep my grades up and stay out of trouble, because if I was to get into any type of trouble it could jeopardize my dream of becoming an officer. Since I have started my senior year, I have taken one online class and one in person class at forsyth tech to better my skill set in the criminal justice field, so that when I start college there I will be a step ahead of everyone in my graduating class. Me having a growth mindset plays a key role in all of this, because it helps me always want to learn more and always allows me to progress more as a student and a person. I feel as if I am not being held back like someone with a fixed mindset would. It always allows me stay one step ahead of everyone
