After that job, he attended Montana State. There in Montanna is where he first brushes in with law enforcement. After some more problems with the law in Montana, John returns home where he starts to run a health club located on a base in New York. John Douglas applied to the airforce. When he applied for a radio intercept school which he was over qualified for he soon found out the school had no more room. So he became a clerk typist in New Mexico. While working for the air force, John volunteered with handicap children with recreation programs. When he volunteered with the children he soon discovered what would be his interest in graduate school. While still in the airforce, John became apart of Operation Bootstrap. The government paid for majority of his education to go to school at night. While continuing to vontunteer, New Mexico University psychology department was observing him with the children. They offered him a four year degree in special education scholarship.
