Depression is something that is experienced by almost everyone in life. The world is for every changing from people losing jobs, family situations, and being unhappy in life, could all lead to depressive episodes. The article points out that 14 million adults annually in the United States are experiencing debilitating major depressive disorder. They are many ways to deal with depression. For example, exercising, being involved in different hobbies, and connect with friends. According to Psychology Today, Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present. When one is mindful, they observe thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. The goal of this clinical study is to strengthen cognitive control mechanisms, meditation may lessen ruminative processes and diminish depression.
Mindfulness Base Cognitive Therapy is a group-based program combining intensive training in mindfulness with cognitive–behavioral elements targeting depression. It is an 8-week group session composed of twelve to

For example, the Hamilton Rating Scales was given again (depression) and the 5 Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (mindfulness). MBCT significantly had a reduction in depressive severity according to the Hamilton Scale. The study did not find significant changes in suicidal ideation. Participants who completed the MBCT treatment attended an average of six classes. The homework records indicated that they had practiced meditation or yoga on an average of four days out of the six days they had been asked to practice between sessions for about an hour per day. Another variation offered to participants was to experiment, in sitting meditations, with opening their eyes at times when they found matter to be overwhelming and to use this technique to approach difficult situations.
