Mindful Listening In The Goonies Never Say Die !

“Goonies never say die”! In the classic tale The Goonies, seven youth travel through the sewers of the Goondocks to find the buried treasure of Captain One Eyed Willie to save their neighborhood from being torn down and replaced with a golf course. The character Mikey is the leader of his group called the, “The Goonies”. Mikey stumbles upon something that he discovered to be a treasure map. Furthermore, as they embark on their journey they run into dangerous criminal’s name the Fratellis. The Fratellis capture one of the Goonies named Chunk. Chunk reveals to the Fratellis where his friends have gone, and soon they give chase. However, before they do, the Fratrllis tie Chunk up with their deformed son Sloth. This term means to have careful and thoughtful responses to others’ messages. There are dangerous booby-traps all over the tunnels and they are also trying to avoid criminals that are trying to kill them. In one scene Mikey is giving his friends a speech in order for them to keep going. Everyone stopped and listened closely to what was said. If we examine mindful listening we will see how important it is to focus on the important messages that are being spoken to us. If we don’t we will lose either a valuable lesson or a message that can be life or death. Another example is as the Fratellis were gaining speed, the Goonies had to depend on one another to get past the criminals. Some would be lookouts as the rest would find clues in other to get to the next tunnel. The Fratellis must have mindful listening as criminals. They must lean on each other to capture the Goonies. They to like the group have to avoid death by the same booby traps. Inside this section Bonding is also another term that can be used. Four of the members are best friends. Three more are incorporated into this group and they themselves because very close and Goonies. Bonding is critical because they had to feel comfortable in order to trust one other. This team’s livelihood depended on trust, and bonding. We often bond with people we spend the most time with. We have a connection in time of tragedy, or celebration. On the other hand, if their communication is not effective, it can cause division and someone could have died. Supporting is another term the Goonies had to offer one other to give a sense of reassurance to keep each other motivated. They used teamwork to help one other on different tasks. Mikey, which was in charge of direction, had the treasure map. The other played an instrument they called the “bone organ” to get them to the next tunnel.
