I usually read when I need to for my classes. There are books on my shelves that I bought it and want to read it when I have time. There are few type of books I like to read, love novel, religion books, self-help, education books about kids, cooking books, and many other. However, it is hard to read when I have two young children. The time I read the materials for my classes are at late night, after both my kids are asleep.
When I read, it brings me into the book and it kind of in a way to allow me to take a break from my busy life. I miss reading for pleasure!

    In Ellisa Strauss’s article, “Being Mindful About Mindfulness”, she focuses on children being taught mindfulness through meditation in the classrooms. She argues that while meditation may help and benefit a child mentally and emotionally, she is worried that these children will shape into what she calls it, “corporation humanoids”. Although Strauss explains why meditation is becoming a popular practice within businesses and schools and uses evidence to back up these claims, at the same time she is worried whether meditation will shape children in the right or wrong way.     I know that I am more of a visual learner than an auditory learner, but I usually get bored really quickly whenever I read a long text that is full of information or does not have any pictures or graphs. So instead of reading “The Federalist Paper” in one go, I break it down into sections and then use a highlighter to highlight important facts and take notes as I go. These learning tips are not new, but I always find them helpful when I need to analyze the text later on. I also tend to get lost a lot when I read and end up skimming and skipping throughout the text.
