Mindap Reflection

Decent Essays
I was very concerned about this class in the beginning. I thought I was not going to do well with my computer being a Macbook. I was able to work around that concern with different programs allowing me to complete the work correctly. I was very skeptical about using Microsoft Word because I already really enjoyed using Pages so much. This class really opened up my eyes to what else is out there. I really enjoyed using MindTap. I feel as if it really helped me progress in learning how to use each one of these programs. The only thing that I didn't like about MindTap was how sensitive the program was in the training portion. Overall, I very much enjoyed this course. It started out being my biggest worry and ended being one of my favorite courses.

As I have grown older I have gained a greater appreciation for my own mother and commend her for raising three very confident and self-sufficient women. However, the confidence my own parents instilled is sometimes the thing that makes it difficult for me to be able to put myself in others shoes. As I read the excerpt, “What Should You Say When Your Child Tells You Someone Is Being Mean to Them?” I realized that the advice I have always given the same advice that always worked for me, does not help every situation. This book continues to be eye opening and at times a hard pill to swallow.…

Prior to listening to the interview with Junot Diaz, I thought Oscar Wao was just a fictional story with a little historical significance in the margins. However, I was greatly mistaken. Listening to Diaz gave me new insights and perspective on the entire story itself. Once, I listened to Diaz I had the unavoidable surge to read The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, once more. I was amazed to see, how I thought sections of the novel were irrelevant, but in reality were necessary to make the story cohesive and thus allowed the story to make sense.…

Part 1: Jensen Reflection Reflect on how the 7 critical factors influenced the way you worked with your tutee. In the book, "Brain in Matter," Jenson identifies seven critical factors of teaching which are engagement, repetition, input quantity, coherence, timing, error correction, and emotional states. My tutee's favorite subject was social studies and he loves hands on activities so it did not take much to get him engaged. I used repetition when working with my tutee as well as visual activities to keep him engaged.…

This course has been a great course to really take a look at yourself in the professional and personal aspects of life. The self-assessments have confirmed things I knew about myself and brought to light areas of opportunity. The Milestones like the SWOT and Personal Development Plan give you an opportunity to acknowledge those areas of opportunity and think of ways to turn them from opportunities to skills. In the organization that I work in there are not areas of “conflict” per say but there are areas that I can improve upon while I am with this organization.…

During this week at my agency, I indulged in the following activities which includes; attending the team meeting, observed, sat in for intakes, med-checks as well as carried out a family therapy session. The first client scheduled for this week did not show up for session, but her mother called the agency stating that she forgot their appointment and rescheduled. On the other hand, my young client who is diagnosed with ADHD showed up for intake with her mother. Even though the agency already discussed privacy and confidentiality to the client’s mother, I re-assured her about this during the intake session. I also added that as part of confidentiality, when we come across each other at the store I will not say hi but will respond if she does; based on the knowledge gained from the my seminar class as well as ideas shared by my field liaison.…
