My experiences completing the sections of the “Mind over Mood” book were very intriguing and struck an emotional mood throughout the book. These experiences stemmed from the perspective of gained from writing on private and sensitive behaviors that considered important to my personal growth. Furthermore, I knew addressing these issues would convey change in my life, if I actively worked on them. Fortunately, taking a cognitive approach provided a structure methodology that counselors (especially beginning counselors) use to frame client’s behaviors’ and a myriad of mood and behavioral problems. Ironically, using a systematic approach of to the interconnection of moods, physical experiences with our conscious and unconscious thoughts, behaviors and beliefs provides a logical sequence of accepting change with or decision making and perspective. Furthermore, gaining an in-depth understanding of the problem is paramount to initiating change. However, the act of thinking objectively on my environment leads to a realization of how my thoughts are linked to my emotional and physical expression that people in my life view as positive or …show more content…
These skills are most helpful for me when my decisions are creating internal and external stress or conflict with others in my life. Conversely, using these skills or techniques will provide value and inner comfort when there is question by others or myself, if I can honestly distinguish the intensity of my mood to ensure it is equitable, toward others when dealing with situations that are precluded by hot thoughts. I would use the techniques in the book in an informal manner the majority of the time. An alternative may be to list moods, automatic thoughts evidence that support, evidence that does not support, and alternative/balanced thoughts in an abbreviated format. I do not see myself listing the entire “Thought Record” unless in extreme
