Narrative Essay Milton Vondy is 90 years old and just retired last year. You are most likely thinking that he had an easy job to be working at this age, but this isn’t the case. This man had a hard job being a veterinarian and working any day at any time when an animal needed his help.
Milton has always been hard working right from the beginning. When he was young and ready to start college he didn’t have money. Many people thought he would just go down to the bank and ask for a student loan, but what if this wasn’t an option. Well this meant he would enroll in the military to get the money to go to college. Milton attended school for five years and graduated in 1951. After he got married and worked in the small town of Brush, Colorado for a while, he decided to move to Burlington, Colorado and start a family.
“I was sitting in my office and it was my first day in the town of Burlington. It was late afternoon and I hadn’t had a single customer all day. Then, here came walking in a man saying he needed help with his sheep. I walked out to see that his sheep was having trouble giving birth to its baby. I delivered it and after that day my business began to flourish.”
Not long after this Milton and his wife Doris had their first daughter, this was the happiest day of his life at the time. Then along came 4 more children. In total they had three girls and two boys. They were one big happy family, but they needed a bigger house. Milton lives South of Burlington where he moved his family to. At this home he had a new office a few steps from his front door and he had pasture for all the horses.
Shortly after this his “partner in crime” finishes schooling and came to work with him. Dr. Milton Vondy and Dr. Stanley Powell. They worked together from 1962 until 2016. They were best friends and they love each other. In my eyes they are the hardest working men I have ever …show more content…
And even when he wasn’t working he would be out in his clinic reading veterinarian books. He had many other accidents happen to him but he would never stop working. This is why the people of Burlington all admire him so much.
Milton always said that Doris and he would someday retire and travel the world. They were always saving up their money for this, but then the unthinkable happened. Doris Vondy is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Milton and the family were devastated and knew that sooner or later they wouldn’t be able to take care of her anymore. Eventually, they decided it was time and oh man was Doris mad about it. She didn’t understand why they were doing this to her and it broke everyone’s heart even more.
When Doris Vondy passed away in peace it was too late for Milton to travel, they never got to live out their dream to see the world. Milton ended up spending three quarters of a million dollars just so that his one and only sweetheart could have the care she needed and deserved. After Doris passed he continued working, not because he needed to, but because he loved it. Not many people get to say I loved my job, but he says it every day. If you asked Milton what is one wish was he would say I wish I was starting my career over, I want to do all of this
