Milton Snavely Hershey Short Biography

Milton Snavely Hershey was born on September 13, 1857. He was born on a little farm in Derry Church (Derry Township), Pennsylvania. Milton was of the lineage of Isaac and Anna Hershey (his great grandparents). Isaac built the farm for his future children. The same farm that Milton was born on. Isaac and Anna soon had a son named Jacob. Jacob Hershey soon married Christina Bare and had a son. Their son was Henry Hershey, the future father of Milton Hershey. Henry married Veronica and they had Milton Snavely Hershey. Only five short years later on April 12, 1862, Milton became an older brother. “Fanny” had gave birth to a little girl, Serena. Serena and Milton were very good friends, minus a couple of sibling rivalries. Unfortunately, when Milton was only nine years old tragedy struck. Serena came down with Scarlet Fever. Only after a very short time she died. This devastated the whole Hershey family. After her death, Henry could not bear to see their faces. This dream never came true. At the age of 88 years old Milton came down with rare heart disease. After a couple days of being sick he decided to get medical help. He went to the hospital that he had helped build. There after only a few days Milton died. He died in August, 1945, one month before his 89th birthday Troutman 5
Milton Hershey is remembered today for being one of the best chocolatiers in the world. Along with his success in chocolate making, he built a town and friendships with many people. He built a town now that people can visit. You can stay in the hotel and attend the amusement park, churches, and schools. You can also attend the orphanage school boy or girl (even if you are not an orphan). You can also go to tours of the Hershey factory in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
