Milton Hershey was born in Derry Township, Pennsylvania, on September 13, 1857. Hershey’s was the only surviving male child of father Henry Hershey and mother Fanny Snavely Hershey; he also has one sister Serina Hershey. Hershey’s spent his early childhood trailing his father, a dreamer who always had his eyes out for the next big opportunity. By 1857 Hershey’s father had largely cut himself out the picture. Fanny was tiered of her husband’s failures; the details of their separation are cloudy. Hershey attended seven different schools in eight years. At age 14 Hershey, dropped out of school the year before. He expressed an interest in candy making. First Hershey started producing chocolate coating for caramels. The growing demand for chocolate itself inspired him to retool his entire operation to manufacture a unique recipe for milk chocolate, then cam e the “Hershey Bar”. The Hershey Bar is a gluten free milk chocolate flavored candy bar. Hershey invented the Hershey bar because of his passion for chocolate candy. Through trial and error, he hit up the right formula of milk, sugar and cocoa that enabled him to realize his dream of producing and distributing milk chocolate candy. Milton Hershey is considered an entrepreneur because he accepts the risk of business failure and success. Where he finally opened his company and sold for $1 million his caramel company, he created his own formula for milk chocolate, tried a couple of times until he got the right recipe. He also developed the “Hershey kisses” in 1907 and in 1908 he developed the “Hershey bar with almond”.
