Milton Hershey School Documentary Analysis

In the documentary about Milton Hershey school they show the lives of kids in need who have difficulties at home. Milton and Katherine Hershey decided to build a sort of boarding school for orphan children since they could not have children of their own. The school is now used to get children who are in danger of not making it past high school or who have problems at home to live in a better environment that helps them stay on track to graduating and going forward in life. It was very generous of Milton Hershey to give back to the community after he had made a profit in his business. He and his company incorporated corporate citizenship and went beyond what was legally required. Unlike other companies that we have seen films on, Hershey is …show more content…
The second group of kids were there because their mother had suffered from a heart attack and was unable to care for them. All the kids who go to Hershey school have to live in a different house with housparents. The houseparents, in my opinion, are very kind people because they are opening their house to children who are going through a rough time. They are also responsible for the well-being of the children, which is a lot of work. It was sad to see that the children go through a transitional period where they feel homesick and cry most of the time for their parents. Its hard to imagine being sent away from home and having to stay with a new set of parents until High school graduation or until the difficult time at home is over. However, what Milton and Kathrine did was wonderful because a majority of the kids graduated high school and went on to college. The school also offered college scholarship which is very helpful to those families in need. Milton Hershey school changed and saved the lives of those children. Every company who does well should help society in any way possible as Milton did with building Hershey

Enrique’s Journey The issue of immigrant mothers leaving home in order to give their children and families a better life has become a big one. I chose to watch the video 56 Up. What I found interesting was how each kid turned out. Some did exactly what they said they would when they were 7 and others did something completely different. The one I found most interesting was Symon. He grew up in a Children’s Home funded by charity.…

This episode really opened my eyes to other things going on in this world. I have always lived in good neighborhoods that have never had any shootings or crimes. These kids in the episode have not only had so many shootings in their neighborhoods but they actually see these shootings, sometimes are the shooter, and they see their friends or family get shot more than anyone should. It is crazy how different of lives people can live. I have never even thought about buying a gun because I would never need it but with these kids it’s a second nature to have a gun and to know how to get one and where to hide one.…

In 2006, I began my journey at The Valley School as a first grade student. Moving over from my previous school, which I had attended from the time I was three until I was six years old, was fairly smooth. I had friends who made the switch with me and, being the social butterfly I was, making new friends was a breeze. In the first few years as a student, I saw Valley move into three buildings.…

Since moving to Bettendorf for my High School years I have learned more than I could imagine and for that, I will be grateful for forever. I have learned more about myself, more in school, and most importantly I have learned from my mistakes including how to fix them to prevent myself from ever making them again. Everyone makes mistakes and may possibly get in trouble for these. I will never forget Bettendorf High School nor February 28th, 2018. February 28th was a day that has changed how I think about my best friends, and also made think about everyone a lot more than I did before.…

A new journey in my life began on August 13th, 2014 as my school principal cut the red ribbon celebrating the opening of a brand new high school. Little did I know, it would become a journey of growth and unique experiences unlike any before it, further refining and adding to my inner sculpture of identity and talent. I was going to Liberty High School, therefore it was necessary that I adapt--quickly, yet strategically. Throughout my life, I had never imagined that my high school experience would reach and exceed my expectations in the way that it did. I had the unique opportunity most people don’t get in life: to be part of a grassroots movement in establishing a culture that would enrich future students with tradition and values for many years to come.…

It had been a few weeks since your parents died in a tragic plane crash, though you didn’t feel all that sad. Of course, you were slightly upset, but it wasn’t that bad. Your parents had never really built an emotional bond with you. They were more like dictators, they forced you to be the three P’s: posh, proper, and polite. When you wanted to play outside with the other kids, they shook their head in distaste, your mother telling you that’s not what ladies do.…

After watching the documentary Paycheck to Paycheck, I was left with a lot of uncertainty about people living in poverty. It is truly devastating how can single mothers survive with having such low income. It makes me extremely mad the fact that there is no more help for someone in this kind of situation who really needs a hand. It is truly amazing to see how Katrina manages to raise her three children by herself making that little amount of salary. Sincerely my heart was breaking watching this because I can totally relate to her story.…

Many people will argue whether corporate greed can benefit a business or destroy it. Greed has always been known to be a sin, “an intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power or food”. Although most will agree that being greedy is not an honorable trait to have, opinions change when people realize that they might gain a great deal out of someone else’s success. As our society is continuously evolving without corporate greed it would not be progressing as rapidly as it is and has been in the last number of years. Corporate greed is in fact good, there are multiple successful people that have aided humanity by their greedy decisions and actions.…
