Milton Hershey Accomplishments

Milton Hershey was born on September 13,1857 in Derry Township, Pennsylvania. But he died at the age of 88 in October 13,1945 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.He started school at the age of 6 years old and dropped out the year before he was 14.Hershey borrowed $150 from his aunt and opened his own candy shop in the heart of Philadelphia.That business failed, he started his new business called The Lancaster Caramel Company in 1886. That also failed, because a lack of money, Milton moved to Denver. After Denver , he moved to Chicago to start a third business. That failed in only three months. After that he went to New York and rented a room in a house. He experimented with making caramels in the landlady’s kitchen. Milton also worked for Huyler’s for that time. Huyler’s was a popular candy store back then. He sold the candies that he was experimenting with at the home were he rented the room. He had earned enough money to start a fourth business. This business was Hershey’s Chocolate.
