When talking about bars, it is usually very broad and general and can often be refer to various different locations and activities. There are uncountable ways to design and build a bar that will satisfy the general public needs which is often to drink and communicate. Therefore, this essay will be talking about how the design of the Milson Point Sky Bar Project have captured the requirements of the clients to build a bar that isn’t typical but allows the visitors to be entertained during their visits and also connecting them to the Australian nature. Using (Arheims’s 1977) perspective on interspace, (Hill, J. 2003) theory on passive users and (Eggins, 2004:172) perspective on modality could prove how these factors can build up to fulfill the

How a bar is design, the material used, the color and objects affect the types and behavior of the visitors in the particular space and also the opinion of the people outside. This leading on to modality, whether something is high modality or low modality, it all depends on what it is, where it is and to whom it is. For example, the Oxford Street, Sydney is well known for gays and lesbians’ venues. As it is a high modality in Oxford Street, it may not be in other different areas. As a bar, again we would want to maintain the level of modality to stay in between. High modality can sometimes (but not always) be boring as an entertainment venue, but being a very low modality wouldn’t last as long. For example, in Figure 4, the rooftop bar has been tested as a low modality venue. A glass swimming pool has been added in the middle section of the bar. The salient features have been removed and whole view has been blocked up and cover but roofs poles and walls. This is already becoming a low modality in the field of a rooftop bar as they have transformed from a rooftop being the top level of a building.
