One might think of the movie “Million Dollar Baby” as a typical cliche boxing movie at first if you’ve never seen it before. However this is much more than your typical “Rocky” movie. “Million Dollar Baby” is more than just being about a fighter, but is about being a warrior. It strikes deeply at the value of life and self-worth of oneself, and loved ones.
It’s no surprise that “Million Dollar Baby” received such outstanding positive reviews as along with the Academy awards it received such as best actress done by (Hilary Swank),and best director done by (Clint Eastwood). It’s rare for a movie to succeed in capturing the attention of the audience in such a deviant way.

If it’s Maggie trying to better her life, and future by punching away at her past life and self absorbed family. Or on the other hand Franks being an overly protective trainer feeling obligated to the injuries done to his fighters in the past haunting him. Even Frank’s partner Eddie has troublesome problems of his very own being devastated with the early ending of his fighting career with an injury that occurred.
Mid-way through the movie one can’t help, but want a better life for Maggie and begin rooting for her themselves. No this boxing movie is not like “Rocky” with bloody faces, and fat lips. However it demonstrates Maggie as being an empowered women fighter good enough to be knocking her appointments out during the first round. However this ends quickly when the movie takes a twist of turns when Maggie gets to her last opponent in her fight against The Blue Bear.
Maggies opponent The Blue Bear began losing the fight becomes furious, and throws a cheap shot at Maggie after the bell had already been rung to return to both corners. Maggie’s stool was not placed in her corner, and she hit her neck becoming permanently paralyzed. Frank’s guilt was eating him alive he even lashed out at Eddie for convincing him to take Maggie on as a trainer.
