Massey School of Dance is not only a competitive dance studio but a family where I spent 15 years of my life learning life lessons and amazing choreography. I started dancing at Massey when I was three years old and I loved every second of it. When I was younger I played soccer, was on a gymnastics team, played softball, and danced, when I reached the age of 10 I quit everything but dance. At the young age of 8 I was asked to be on our competition team because my dance techniques were high enough to compete with the team. At Massey competition season is the best time of the year. I can honestly say I made senior year one of the best ones yet. We participated in 5 competitions and qualified to go to nationals at Atlantic Beach NC. While at nationals I preformed my solo and 8 group dances. My favorite dances were of course my solo because I choreographed it I won 2nd highest scoring solo of the whole entire competition and then our troupe and hip-hop dance. Troupe was my favorite because it was very sassy and I am a sassy person 24/7 and it won 1st place in its division and “sassiest dance” of the day award which I was super proud of. Hip- hop was a scary monster dance but was a hardcore hard hitting dance and it got the audience really excited but it got us dancers so out of breath, this dance won 1st place in its division as well and then we go the “sweetest scariest costume” of the day. Senior year ended with a bang and I could not have been more proud of my team as a whole because we went in with our heads up and never let them fall down so we came out strong. Senior year was my favorite because we did so well in competition but not only that because I made my memories last because I knew that after this they were over. Every chance I got I went to the studio because those are the times when I was stressed and need some time to just let all my feelings loose. I am happy for the memories I made during the years but I was very sad to see them end so

I have been dancing for as long as I can remember. Of course, I don’t actually remember the first time I performed on stage, but my mom has pictures of me in a pink leotard and a grass hula skirt for proof. The first time I remember dancing was when I was around five years old, in tap class, learning a move called the coffee grinder. I remember looking in the mirrors as I swung my leg around and jaggedly jumped over it multiple times before I could get the move down. I felt super proud of myself when I was the first one in my class to master the move, well the best a five year old can master a move.…
