Jaschik ended up writing this article under the observations of mainly Miller, leaving this a one sided article besides the rebuttal from student Lauren Garey. Personally, I think that it is hard to generalize an entire population of American students based off of only one person’s observations of only one area, or a sample. As stated by Miller to Jaschik in an interview, “she noted that many of her foreign students have difficulty with English, but make up for that with hard work. Her American students, meanwhile, appear challenged by work.” Despite reasonable points being made, Jaschik’s article only covered one region of American students and took on only the opinion of one professor’s observations. In addition, the article took a personal attack on American students and their work
