I am a Millennial. My generation is becoming the most influential generation of consumers, citizens, and employees. Generation Y is changing the basics of rental market and representing the new work force in the global market.
Meet Ksenia: my good friend and also an educated and skilled millennial in New York, who moved back in with her parents after she spend a year trying to live on her own. Like many girls of her age, she moved to the heart of an apple and tried to combine professional life and fun activities with her friends. But it did not work as well as she hoped it would. Although she was able to get a job, it was far from her apartment and all the travelling did not live her time for friends and leisure activities. She missed what the old style of living used to offer her, and this is when she made a decision to move back in with her parents. This generation is the youngest in the work place. They are the first generation that grew up using digital technology, social and mass media. Millennials are “digital natives”, they have been a part of the fast progress of new technology. Social network became a big part of their life. This generation is described as “creative, solution-focused, socially conscious, and team-oriented” (DeVaney, 11). Millennials don’t want to have the kinds of things they can’t afford, and it is not their precedence to start families at a young age. Generation Y main focuses are on getting educated and make the world a better place.
