Georgia College and Milledgeville have a special bond in that our success is dependent on each other. When the city and country thrive, so does Georgia College and vice versa. Because of that, we take our relationship with the city, county and surrounding areas very seriously.
In fact, the results from a recent study commissioned by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia found that Georgia College has a $235 million impact on the local economy. That’s not just Baldwin County, but that also includes Hancock, Putnam, Wilkinson, Jones and Washington. There are more than 800 jobs created on campus and 2,000 off campus because of the university. We provide employment and also bring more people to Milledgeville to in turn spend their money here.

As the state; designated public liberal arts university, we are striving to be not only a university of choice for students in Georgia but a top university nationally. We have seen an increase in the university’s profile—ranking as a the 9th top public regional university by U.S. News and World Report and the fourth best in the nation for undergraduate teaching. For the future, we will continue to attract the best and brightest students from across the state, region and country, while also focusing on developing more and building on our partnerships with the community.
