The enlisted Weapons Instructor Course owes much of the credit to the Aerial Gunnery School, which was created nearly six decades in a time when the nation was involved in a World War, which had been fought on two different fronts. This was a time before the jet-age, before that atom bomb, at a time the nation was just a world power, not the superpower it would later become. The beginning of the United States Air Force Weapons School traces its roots to the enlisted Airman who attended one of the many Aircraft Gunnery schools established throughout much of the United States during and after World War II.

Air Force, the youngest of the military services. Once was known as the Army Air Corps until it became a separate service, immediately following the second World War, in 1947. Though, the Air Force is the newest of all the military branches, the history of the Air Force Enlisted corps is long and varied (Professional Development Guide, 18). From humble beginnings to today?s U.S. Air Force, the enlisted corps deserves much of the credit for its development and great accomplishments (Professional Development Guide, 18.)
