In this section of the project, I described the national problem, basis for choosing the problem, defined few topic-specific terms, implications of the problem, and problem as it relates to the research questions. In this study, I examined the problem of military transition to civilian life as it affects hundreds of thousand of veterans of the U.S. Military who have served our country but may have been discharged without sufficient receipt of resources and services to equip them. Particularly, I analyzed relationships between career adaptability and transition confidence & readiness of service persons that participated in SFL-TAP workshops. While these issues are complicated, the elements affecting the supposed efficiency of the TAP among exiting SMs is a noble primary leap in the right direction for developing understanding about veterans’ opinions regarding their transitions. These men and women volunteered to defend our nation and most importantly they sacrificed their own freedom for the freedom of all Americans.. The Department of Defense finances the Transition Assistance Program, still continuous analyses and assessments identify many factors that affect smooth transition to the labor market to become “career ready. Despite the veteran transition programs being employed by government agencies, the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Defense, and Labor, the problem with veterans’ unemployment, homelessness and transition issues still persists. The issues and challenges influencing the successful transition of soldiers may include (a) time-consuming delivery of necessary benefits and entitlements, (b) restricted access to TAP sessions and workshops, (c) inadequate access to transition counselors, (d) difficulties resulting from physical and mental disabilities, (e) insufficient opportunities and financial support, (f) absence of needed self-progressive skills, and (g) termination of eligibility for benefits (Adamchik, 2008).
