Therefore, it’s imperative to have processes and events to capture these ideas. Organizations are a complex collection of competencies. The challenge for healthcare executives is to make sure that those competencies integrate well with one another, so that the result is an effective well-oiled system rather than a collection of self-directed individuals performing their tasks without concern for the mission of the organization.
It was interesting to realize that military strategies are applicable in the business world despite the differences in objectives between the two. The goal of military strategy is to end the opponent's resolve to continue the conflict; the enemy has to lose the war. In business, strategy is our way to achieve our objectives and long term success. It doesn’t necessarily require ending an opponent's business. In fact, in healthcare ending the business of a competitor can be detrimental to our own success; it can limit resources in the community, decrease access to services and affect health
