Growing up, I did not have a good sense of direction on what I wanted my lifelong career to be. At times I wanted to be a veterinarian. Other times I wanted to be an actress or a cowgirl. Military spouses have to be full time stay at home parents because it is too expensive to put their children in daycare while they work. Airmen are forced to accept additional TDY’s or deployments just to bring in extra income for their family. Unforeseen circumstances rack up their credit card debt. On the other hand, military families also have too much money but do not know how to properly manage it. They do not create an emergency fund, save for their own education once their military career is complete, or invest in their retirement or their children’s college education which will leave them in a substantial financial struggle sooner than they realize.
Being a military spouse not only influenced my desire to pursue an education in my career field, it is the driving force behind unveiling my true passion for helping military families achieve financial security. This scholarship will help me reach my dream of becoming a financial
