In several aspects, this diction is quite truthful. The military can bring many benefits, such as: College funding (if you’re qualified enough), effective job skills, and job security. All of these benefits are the reason I am so interested in this topic because I wanted to pursue why so many people oppose military recruiters. On the other hand, many parents believe their kids should not be obligated to hear this information at such a young age, especially when it is conveyed in such nonviolent terms by these recruiters. Parents make this heard because of the fact that their kid could …show more content…
Yet, my views on military recruiters setting up post at high schools have changed. After further research, I have come to the conclusion that there are corrupt recruiters lying to young high school teenagers. However, if that begins to change in the future, I believe that military recruiters should be able to recruit in high schools who do not mind them doing so. Throughout my research, I thought of a possible solution and ran into it when I read about the “Opt-out” form. The opt-out forms are forms that are filled out by parents or guardians to exclude their child from having their information given to military recruiters. The problem is that most parents end up never getting their hands on these forms. As a result of strict rules set by the military it leaves a majority of the populace off the list of joining the military to begin with. The article asserts,“Of the starting 21m, around 9.5m would fail a rudimentary academic qualification, either because they had dropped out of high school or, typically, because most young Americans cannot do tricky sums without a calculator. Of the remainder, 7m would be disqualified because they are too fat, or have a criminal record, or tattoos on their hands or faces,” the article claims this as fact and this makes it seem as though it is the populaces fault that no one can join and not the strict rules of the…

Reinstating The Military Draft Reinstating the military draft is a topic that creates a lot of discussion. The military draft is a system that requires individuals between eighteen and twenty five years old to enlist and serve in the military if eligible to join the service after assessment. Drafted men and women undergo months of training and are sent to wars or assigned to designations in the military. Reinstating the military draft is beneficial because national security is assured, the opportunity to reduce the unemployment rate, the chance to build one’s character, and the ability to create equality is possible.…

Now, if a student for example, has no money for college and does not know what to do after high school they might feel that joining the army could be their only chance at a comfortable life. These types of tactics are very good considering that they are going after the people who have come to the crossroad in their life. Nevertheless, does the military even know that their offers are starting to be seen as if they are saying ¨You have no other choice, join the Army!¨ and how it sometimes seems to be telling the people not to take a chance and try to figure their next moved. Men, who are drafted against their will, do not have the same commitment and passion as those who want to serve their country. In 2012, the Pentagon exceeded its quality standards for active duty recruits for the twenty-seventh year in a row. The military uses the AFQT, or Armed Forces Qualification Test, to determine a recruit’s eligibility for enrollment in the military. Half of all recruits are in the top two of five categories of the AFQT, while only one percent is in the bottom category. Compared to those who voluntarily enlist, only one-third of draft recruits place in the top two categories and twenty-five percent in the bottom.…

The United States military has been recruiting immigrants with specialized skills in health care and foreign languages, to serve in exchange for American Citizenship for hundreds of years. By lowering the standards of acceptance into the military, like lowering aptitude test scores, and a higher percentage of recruits without a high school diploma, the U.S. military has turned to recruiting noncitizens of the United States. But, by allowing non-citizens of the United States to serve in the U.S. military, concerns many with the safety of national security. Sometimes called "green card soldiers," noncitizen recruits can achieve expedited citizenship in as little as six months in return for military service. For other noncitizens, the naturalization process can take years, added with high fees.…

How would you feel as a parent if your children were convinced to join the military through deception? This is what is happening throughout the United States where representatives from the armed forces come to talk to students about joining the armed forces. While this can be a positive thing, many parents including peace groups are against this because of the pure pressure it puts on the students among other things. In order to keep students from making a decision that they don’t truly believe in as a result of the trickery recruiters make, the United States should issue a law to keep military recruiters out of high schools.…

Forcing the Military What if there was no push to persuade young people to go to college after graduation, but a push for them to go off and fight for their country? We would have a culture of breeding warriors and not innovative thinkers and creators. Not only that, but people would only look forward to obtaining a higher education if they made it out of the military unscathed. This would be the reality of the United States if we were to impose a mandatory two year military requirement on young people after graduation and it once was when we had the military draft. This led to mass protests across the country.…
