A Participative Leadership style would be someone who lets their people have decision over the choices that are made. The whole group gets to work together. So it is kind of close to a democracy. You are a very kind leader who cares for your people’s opinions and input. Steve Jobs was a very participative leader it has been said. He talks in many interviews how he managed his people and how he did it in a participative leadership way.
Delegative leaders delegate their authority to other people to get the job done. Delegative leaders can be a good thing, but if all you do is delegate and do not work with your people, then it will not be good. It will install confidence and trust in your people, and you can also use this style to train your people to be leaders themselves one day. Although I’d have to say one of the most overlooked and important leadership styles is servant leadership. This is the best leadership style, and the one that I personally use. I can vouch for using it since I’m in military school and have to actually use it. Servant leadership means putting your team’s interests and needs before your own. As a servant leader wakes up before his men, he doesn’t eat till all of his mean are fed, he participates right next to his team, because he is not above them, and he doesn’t hit the rack till he knows everything for the day has been taken care of.
