First, I want to thank you for your post. Having read your posts from previous classes, it came as no surprise that this post was impressively thought out and equally written. I have a few friends in the healthcare industry, and in talking to them, it seems that you are not alone in your frustrations. Looking at the industry from a layman’s perspective, the sheer level of competition and survival of the fittest mentalities would presumably drive my stress levels through the roof. I applaud your strength and stamina to stay in the game and continue your drive. I want to focus on one specific area that you touched on briefly. That is the motivation of employees and from where it stems. In my professional environment, the military, I often spend countless hours just having conversations with my troops. I have found it amazingly enlightening to just have general conversation about their backgrounds, hobbies, likes, dislikes, and goals. By having these types of conversations, it allows me to learn about their extrinsic and intrinsic motivators.

(Merriam-Webster, 2017) Within the military, the diversity ranges from the types of missions and locations of bases, to, most importantly, the vast array of cultural, ethnic, and demographically diverse force that all have minimally one thing in common, their love of country. In my section alone, we have personnel from the Ukraine, Japan, and South America. Additionally, those that are born in the United States, joining the military and hailing from the suburbs to Philadelphia and the plains of Texas, and from the beaches in California to the back hills of Tennessee and West Virginia. The point is, we each wake up every day to put on a uniform that all have one thing in common. Every one of them, in some way, says U.S. Air
