Only 25% of Americans are qualified to be in the military, the other 75% are not qualified because they’re either drug users, obese, medically unfit, failed to graduate high school, or have criminal records. Although making it mandatory could help some people, it has a lot of potentially long term side effects. Military enlistment should not be mandatory because it could potentially put your life at risk, it puts your life on hold, and not everybody is fit for it.
