Military Conscription Should Be Mandatory

Should the US require military conscription This paper will be talking about the fundamental question of if the US should require military conscription for certain citizens in the country. My personal belief is that military conscription should be required for everyone at the start of the age of eighteen for two years or directly after finishing high school, whichever would come first. I will be covering these five key points in my paper how conscription worked in the past, how well has it worked in other countries, how would this affect military spending or the defense budget, what would the number of active and reserve military force numbers become and lastly how would this affect the overall fighting force of the US military. Would this make us weaker because we would not be training the military industries. Or would this make us a more effective fighting force because our numbers would have grown by an exponential amount. The question also is how would this affect the mindset of the men coming out of the military. Will this affect their education or even push them towards a life of criminal activity. However the mandatory military conscription does not mean that each draftee will be sent to war. They may just be in the reserves and receive the military training necessary to carry out any military action that would be necessary. The mandatory Conscription could decrease crime if it is viewed as a way to increase the overall quality by employers and employees through the improvement of a young man’s marketable skill his mental health and overall physical health and fitness. There is a concern that this will impact a young adult on his path to a higher education. The concern is that instead of continuing his education right away and entering his military conscription first it will affect his ability to pursue this higher level learning. The fact is that the military training will give these young man the discipline, structure, routine and focus they need in order to be successful in life. You are able to pursue a higher level learning in the military. Every year people enroll in senior military colleges and service academies so they can get the higher level learning and the military discipline they need to be a success.
