Many members of my family have served in all branches of the military. This has caused me to always have the utmost respect for our military veterans, past, present, and future. I feel it is my duty as an American to follow in their footsteps.

Service academies challenge their cadets physically, morally, and mentally. They challenge cadets to attempt to achieve rigorous academics while also balancing physical training and other obligations. These requirements are essential in creating leadership and responsibility in the lives of the young men and women who attend the academy. I have always enjoyed challenging myself, whether it be in school, sports or other activities which is why I feel the military academy is one of the best options for me.

My first choice for service academies is the Naval Academy because they offer majors in fields of my interest, such as engineering. I want to test my ability to excel in al categories of academia by pushing myself to learn as much as possible to achieve high honors. Also, as a boy scout, I always chose activities that involved water, eventually becoming a certified diver by taking lessons and striving for new depths — literally. The Naval Academy meets all of my interests and will prepare me for a career in the Navy.

These courses have helped me to learn more, and have challenged me. Another thing that I have done to prepare myself is take technical and shop classes where we've studied engineering and used engineering
