Milhearsal Experience

Today I attended a rehearsal event at East Los Angeles College. This particular event was a piano rehearsal by Andree Ann Deschenes and took place in the S2 recital hall on October 13 and lasted about one hour. She performed and discussed piano music by Darius Milhaud “Sausages do Brasil, op.67”, Ignacio Cervantes “Danzas Cubanas”, and Ernesto Lecuona “Andalucia Suite”. One interesting thing about this event is we had a special guest and was Anita Garay who she played percussion instruments. One of the compositions that I enjoyed listening was “Danzas Cubanas” by Ignacio Cervantes. This piece consists of two melodies which are “Invitaciones” and “Los Tres Golpes” both of them sound awesome. “Invitacinones” started with the piano and the rhythm …show more content…
It first started very smooth and very low notes playing. Howerver the sound of the notes started rising, sounded loud, and started to speed up in the middle of the song. I notice at the end the song it ended very different from the beginning of the song. My reaction to the “Danzas Cubanas”, “Sausages do Brasil,op.67” and “Andalucia Suite” I was surprised because it made me feel fantastic. Hearing this music made to relax and made me to become stress free allowing me to forget about things that were making me overwhelm. I believed that the rhythm, loud notes, and the texture of the songs changed my mood status. I remember that day I was not feeling well, I was dealing with personal problems, however, just by attending and hearing the music it instantly made me to think positive and made to forget everything. This was my first time attending a concert and never in my life have I attended to a concert what’s so ever. My overall experienced attending this rehearsal was good everything went smooth and I really liked how they had a special guest which made things more interesting. I also liked at the end of the rehearsal Andree and Anita had time to answer people’s questions related to the music they performed which I learned new things. At this event I notice few people were dress professionals but most of the people were dress

I was given this song in the 7th grade. The point of learning to play this music piece was to play it for our concert in 7th grade although we didn't get the song completed in time so in 8th grade we played it for our winter concert. The song was energetic.…

They performed la cumparsita famous tango music for next. Especially two dancers danced tango, were cheesy and for me little awkward to see. Their dance was gorgeous I could guess they are real couple. Because the drums sound was little loud, I thought this song would be better with more violin player. It is with great pleasure that I write in support of Dr. Qing Jiang for consideration for The Samuel L. Williams Endowed Professorship in Music. Dr. Jiang is a very worthy candidate for the award, having distinguished herself amongst Department of Music junior faculty by her impressive record of national and international concert appearances, and by her exceptional teaching of piano and chamber music. Dr. Jiang’s CV details her diverse career as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist (a term replacing “accompanist” to describe the role the pianist plays in a instrumental or vocal recital performance). I am impressed not only by the high status venues that have sponsored her performances, such as New York’s Lincoln Center,…

El Sistema is a music program in Venezuela that provides children of disadvantaged backgrounds to have an opportunity to gain an understanding of playing music and performing in front of large crowds. However, El Sistema goes beyond giving these children a musical background. It becomes an arena where children can feel welcomed and safe even though they may not go back to the best environments at home. The reason why it is important to learn about Dudamel’s upbringing in Valenzuela is because it is what set the table for him to become an influential figure in the creation of the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles. This is an organization that draws largely from El Sistema in Venezuela.…

At the concert that I attended, a small orchestra called the Watauga Community Band performed in the Rosen Concert Hall on campus. The concert hall was relatively small, and the lights were left on for the audience. This made the atmosphere feel more informal and welcoming. The band was introduced by a master of ceremonies, and then one of the clarinet players stood up and introduced the first piece. The clarinet player would provide background information before each piece.…

The emotions expressed by not only the music but by how the musicians looked while playing these pieces made me believe that this show meant a lot to them because they would sway to the music when they weren’t playing. It had my emotions spiral out of control because some of the music was happy then it turned sad in an instance, then it would go right back to something whimsical. It’s not the typical kind of music that I would listen to daily but I am happy that I got to attend this event and hear something that I wouldn’t normally.…
