Miley Cyrus's Song Can T Be Tamed

Decent Essays
One day the great god Apollo had decided to come down to earth to play a brand-new song that he wrote for the mortals, called “Can’t be Tamed”. He wanted to share his song with the world so he could spread his message of freedom and self – expression to the world. So, he disguised himself as a mortal, grabbed his guitar, and started traveling the United States sharing his song with the world. The last stop on his tour was Hollywood, California. As he played his song up and down Hollywood Boulevard, a seventeen-year-old girl, named Miley Cyrus, heard his song and instantly fell in love with it. She followed him all around Hollywood and listened to his song again and again.

“Your voice is like an angel,” she exclaimed happily.

“Why have you come? Why have I never seen you before?”
“I am the great god Apollo,” he responded. “As for why I have come, well child, that is the easiest question in the world. I have come to share the song I have written with the whole world.”
Suddenly, the god disappeared. Miley thought that he must have returned to his home on Mount Olympus and she figured she should return home too. Over the next few days, all she could think about were the lyrics, “I want to fly. I wanna drive. I wanna go. I wanna be a part of something I don’t know. And if you try to hold me back I might explode. Baby, by now you should know. I can’t be tamed.” Her producer kept pushing her to give him a new song so, she decided she would put this intoxicating song on her next album. After hearing this, Apollo’s anger accelerated faster than Dale Earnhardt in a NASAR race. He stormed off Mount Olympus, disguised himself again as a mortal, and rushed to earth. He tracked down this Miley girl to Los Angeles, California, on the set of Dancing with the Stars, where she would be performing his song live for the first time. Apollo arrived at the set to watch the show. As he sat there, he could feel himself getting more enraged with every second that

“Apollo himself embodied the moderate behavior he espoused. He became the most intellectual and spiritual of the Olympian gods, second in esteem only to Zeus, his father. His thoughtful restraint set him apart from many of the other Olympian gods, who were impetuous and volatile. Gods and men stood in awe of Apollo, respecting and envying his ability to control his emotions and determine his responses.” (57) Tyler is a Christian, and gets almost all of his inspiration for the songs he writes from God.…

Apollo has been called "The most Greek of all the gods". He is thought of as a beautiful figure in Greek poetry, depicted with long tangleless hair and a face of the beardless youth. He's treated as the master musician, the archer god, the god of light, the speaker of truth, and the healer. He's sought out by the people as an Oracle, the common folk looking towards him to know their prophecies and predict their futures. Apollo at Delphi was a purely beneficial power, since he guided the people to have a glance at the God's wills.…

Comparison of the Homeric Hymn to Apollo with Callimachus’ Hymn to Apollo reveals that Callimachus’ myth was composed centuries later. Although a writer may be directly influenced by previous writers’ accounts of the same myth, it is evident that Callimachus was not so influenced by the Homeric Hymn to Apollo in this work. Callimachus’ work’s difference in detail and length, mismatching etiologies, and lack of plot similarities all indicate an absence of a direct connection. Callimachus, an author of a later time, composes a Hymn to Apollo that is quite different from the Homeric version. One of the main differences is the difference in length with Callimachus’ version being substantially shorter.…
