Little did she or any of her friends realize that this would be their last night all together. She was unquestionably drunk and when she returned back to her room, she called her boyfriend Jake. While she was on the phone, she remembered something she had forgotten about. Alaska asked Colonel and Chip to distract the principal therefore she could leave. The boys knew that she was drunk and shouldn’t be driving, but they saw how upset she was and let her leave anyway. The boys set off a trail of fireworks right in front of the pricipals house, the trail went in the opposite direction of Alaskas room. Miles called Alaska and told her the coast was clear, what he didn’t know was that this was the last thing he would ever say to her. Agitated and drunk, Alaska got into her car and drove off (Green 132). Alaska made an atrocious aberration that ended up costing her, her life. She showed me the effects drinking and driving not only on her, but on all the people who cared about her. The accident took away her life and had a substantial impact on all of her friends. It caused hostility between Pudge and Colonel (Green 170). It made them feel as if they had done something unsound. They also felt terribly because they speculated that they could've done more to prevent her from taking off, instead they made the life altering decision to help her escape. Hopefully, I can use all that I learned in the real world. I will carry these lessons with me and maybe someday they will help me out. Alaska's death made me realize that some things are just better left as a mystery. Pudges sudden move to Alabama taught me that you are obligated to explore the unknown to figure out what your great perhaps is.
