When comparing and contrasting the All My Life for Sale and Ebay websites, both have interesting ways in capturing potential buyers interest. When giving a description of Miles Davis record Bitches Brew, All My Life used subjective descriptions to sway buyers to purchase the record. This was entertaining to read however vague about the facts of the album. He simply rambled on about a documentary on jazz history and how jazz purists’ state “Miles Davis is a sell out”. For someone who is unfamiliar with the musician, this is not a great way to get him or her to buy. Whereas on Ebay they used objective descriptions of the album to entice consumers. They use facts about the album such as “This was Miles Davis first gold record. It sold more than a half million copies”. …show more content…
The Ebay seller used objective descriptions and a lot of visuals. The audience he appears to be trying to reach is the avid record collector and/or Miles Davis fan. By using visuals the collector can see the pristine condition the record is in. While the Miles Davis fan will know the history of the musician and know that this record is an absolute gem to have. The seller at All My Life for Sale seems to be trying to attract budding music enthusiasts. His subjective description of the album leaves potential buyers wanting to watch a documentary on jazz history not necessarily wanting to buy the album.

They type of description that would most likely make me want to buy the Miles Davis album would depend on what type of buyer I was. If I were the avid jazz enthusiast or vintage record collector, Ebay would be the site I chose to buy from. The descriptive information, while not entertaining, is exactly what I’m looking for. For the budding music/jazz enthusiast, I might go with All My Life for Sales subjective description of the album. It’s silly, light hearted, it says, hey buy me,

Thomas Gage at Boston.” He served for eighteen months in the Company of Capt.…

The first item is a Five Dollar Iron, described by the origins of how it was created and why the item was so cheaply sold. With much discussion, the Five Dollar Iron was described with a combination of both objective and subjective descriptions. For the objective description, John D Freyer gives a brief history lesson, the iron is a cheap yet affordable object that was found new within his local Kmart. Subjectively, John then goes on to explain as to why the item is so cheap, through the minimal pay of workers in other countries to wanting to endorse an American company, even expanding to the lack of coverage that CBS stories go into of Chinese factories: “I'd rather buy one used so I don't have to support Westinghouse…”. This makes it subjective,…

For our project, my group decided to create a series of advertisements to go along with a fake product called “Turtle Shirt” shown on the popular television show, Saturday Night Live. We created two advertisements through Photoshop that were made to be shown across multiple social media platforms and displayed on billboards throughout larger cities, such as Los Angeles and New York City. Our target demographic is mainly men who have continuous awkward situations within their daily lives. The advertisements were created using a bright green color, representing a turtle, but also to catch the viewer’s eye. Since this was not a serious product, we wanted to promote it in a humorous and enticing way.…
