Miles and Alaska are different in many ways contrasted to most people. Miles was not a sociable person, until he came to Culver Creek. When Miles lived in Florida he did not have friends. Miles parents threw him a going away party, and only too people came. Mile was not sure how to talk to people at his new school Culver Creek. Miles would think of ways to talk to new people. Miles would hope for someone to come up and start a conversation. After Miles met his new roommate Chip (people call him Colonel) they went to Alaskas room to get cigarettes. Miles took the cigarette from the Colonel, and took a puff. This show that Miles wanted Alaska and the Colonel to like him.
