Howard Gardner's Eight Intelligences

Many people grow up wanting children and starting a family. I didn’t grow up only wanting a family, I grew up wanting a classroom of children as my family. In early childhood education there are many mile stones that children need to be at a certain age. Have you ever wondered where those mile stones came from? Well the different mile stones came from all different people, but the theories behind those mile stones did come from specific people. One of the theorists were Howard Gardner, he came up with the idea of the eight intelligences of each person. Let’s see how the eight intelligences had an impacted on education today. Howard Gardner came up with eight intelligences that everybody should have or know. Let’s list them in order, just so we know what those eight are. Interpersonal is knowing how to control other people’s feelings (Riggio 2004). Knowing how people emotions work and when they start feeling something. It could even be just knowing your own emotions. It could even be a leader in a group or the manager in a small business or group of people. This intelligence is really good for education today because we need to know those kinds of people in the class room or at work that can step into a leading positon. It’s good to know who you can go to for help in a situation, somebody who will take it very serious and not joke around about it. People who are good at controlling over people’s emotions are normally the ones who can be a leader in a group and control what everybody wants to see happen. I don’t see this one used much for little kids they don’t understand how to control their own emotions yet anybody else. Believe this one is more towards the older kids. Still really important for education today, just not young
